MUSEUM OF THE GOLD
The Museum of the Zenú Gold was opened for the Bank of the Republic for the first time in March 27 in 1987. It was fully reformed in the year 2006. In 2023, the Bank of the Republic opened in Cartagena the new Museum of Zenú Gold, to the Carthaginians and the visitors who came from over the world to the walled city. The museum shows 34 thousand of gold pieces, all with an incomparable beauty and historical value that native cultures like the Muisca and the Tayrona used as much in the daily life as in sacred rituals.
POPA’S CONVENT
The Popa’s Convent is one of the most touristic visited tours in Cartagena de Indias. The convent has got a nice abbey and interesting stuff like some images of the Virgin. Nevertheless, the truly attractive are their spectacular views of the Walled City, Castle of San Felipe, the skyscrapers of Bocagrande, the poor streets and the bays which form the coast of Cartagena.
ISLANDS OF EL ROSARIO
This archipelago with 27 islands is close to Cartagena de Indias and is one of the most typical trips to do from the colonial city. You will find an idyllic atmosphere where you can enjoy the crystalline, clean and blue Caribbean waters. The beauty of the scenery invites to relax in the sand and practice water sports like diving, snorkel, kayak, windsurf, surf, flyboard and others.
NATIONAL AVIARY OF COLOMBIA
The National Aviary of Colombia is a space with seven hectares which permits seeing a unique and marvelous collection in Latin America. The birds are exhibited in a representation of their natural habitats, in atmospheres so similar to the originals. Through ecological paths you will enjoy three eco systemic atmospheres and 22 exhibitions divided in big immersion aviaries, radial aviaries, bogs and lakes. They are different landscapes, vegetables and hydrological, which allows to see the diversity of the bird’s species.
In the National Aviary of Colombia, we have got 170 species and near to 1700 specimens.
TOTUMO MUD VOLCANO
The Totumo Mud Volcano is an active mud volcano situated in the rural zone of Santa Catalina (Bolívar), in the Caribbean Region of Colombia, near to the Bog of Totumo and close to the border of the Atlantic’s department. The natives call it the “curative mud” because of their therapeutical properties like the Silica, Aluminum, Magnesium, Sulfur and others. When you enter in the Volcano of Totumo’s crater you will feel the density of its warm and thick mud. At the beginning it feels uncomfortable but when your body starts to relax it feels very good. With no doubt you cannot miss this visit!
